BEEF:

Beef is one of the most popular meats sold at Bridget B’s. We have a full range of steaks, joints, stewing and braising steaks, mince, burgers and sausages.

Our beef largely comes from our own herds of Simmentals and Belted Galloways. In times of increased demand we source beef from dedicated farmer abattoir Humphreys of Essex. These cattle are quality British-bred reared to our specifications.

All our beef comes from steers or heifers reared on grass and naturally fleshed to a high standard. The cuts of beef are hand selected by our specialist Bridget B’s butchers. They are matured for up to 24 days to enhance flavour and the eating experience.

We also sell specialist products such as our Salt Beef, a recipe designed by our butcher.

PORK:

Demand for pork grows year on year. More and more of our customers are asking us for pork “like it used to taste” – full of taste with a good amount of crackling.

All our pork comes from pigs from our own herds as well as bought in weaners from local farmers. We prefer to use rare breed pig breeds as they finish to a high standard, therefore, the eating quality is very high. More importantly, with us creating a demand for breeds like the British Lop, saddleback and Gloucester Old Spot, without such demand, these breeds would fade away and possibly become extinct.

The British Lop cross also creates a fantastic carcass with plenty of length with good hams.

Bridget B’s sells a full range of pork meats including the very popular joints, chops, belly of pork, 10 different ranges of sausages, gammon and home cured bacon (smoked, molassed and unsmoked).

LAMB:

All our lamb is sourced from award winning sheep producer Robert Law

Robert runs about 2500 ewes in the Hertfordshire border, of which the majority of them are Texel crosses. 

Bridget B’s sells a full range of lamb, including whole and half lambs as well as the traditional joints, chops, cutlets, lamb and mint burgers and lamb and mint sausages.

POULTRY AND GAME:

Our poultry is sourced from farms across the south east, particularly Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire and are reared to a high free range standard.

We sell poultry to whatever specification you require and regularly stock chicken, duck, guinea fowl, poisson, geese, turkey and eggs.

We also see a large variety of Game including pheasant, partridge, venison, rabbit, hare, wild duck, wild goose and squirrel.

All game is sourced from a 10-mile radius and subject to season we are also able to source other type of game such as, woodcock, snipe and grouse. If you’re looking for something a bit different, then please ask us and we’ll endeavour to source it for you.

FRUIT AND VEG:

All our fruit and vegetables are sourced locally from neighbouring farms.

Any fruit or vegetable that is currently in season is stocked at Bridget B’s.

FANCY SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT:

We often get requests for “something a bit different” and are happy to oblige with most requests.

In the past we have supplied pig heads, pig cheeks, marrow bones, offal, lamb hearts, lamb liver, kidney, venison liver and chicken hearts.

PRESERVES AND CONDIMENTS:

New to our Bridget B’s shelves is a wide range of preserves, gravys, stuffings, sauces and condiments. We also have a stock of locally produced cheeses on offer which go well with the freshly baked bread we have in stock on Fridays and Saturdays.
