Hopefully now that some of this summers wettest weeks are
behind us we can honestly say, the weather has been a little frustrating! We
now begin to zoom into the harvest season and our combine has managed to roll
out at least once in between the horrid weather, safely gathering our wheat,
oats and barley.
From a farmers perspective the cows welcomed the rain more
happily for the first time this year, with so many silage clamps their bellies
are full to bursting point, so much so that they will need to join me at my
Our stunning breeding bulls have had an exceptionally
frustrating year so far due to our calf crops, only one of our six are currently
working fit as the others have picked up niggling injuries (our version of premier
league football), man up please!
Our work experience girl Daisy has been busy halter breaking
our year old heifers ready to compete at the National Young Show Stars,
although blisters and bruises come with the job she is doing some fantastic
work. Batchcott Farm, our Shropshire based farm welcomes our new full-time
shepherd Sion, with our new sheep system in place our sweet tender lamb can now
be sold from our butchery.
Our butchery shops are busy with many new developments and
our Bridget B`s team is growing from strength to strength, along with our new
butchery counter which opens on August 18th at The Dutch Nursery
Food Hall, Brookmans Park, with James at the helm we really are ready for
